Keyboard Shortcuts To Use In Microsoft Excel

There is a definite advantage in using keyboard
shortcuts. You don't have to use a mouse. If you
don't remember the shortcut keys, you can see
them in the menu. Every command on the menu has
a pull down list. All the tasks have a shortcut
key assigned to them.
Open the Excel program in your computer. You can
open Excel by clicking on start and selecting
programs. In programs you can select Excel.
Alternatively, if you have a shortcut icon on the
desktop, you can double click that, to open Excel.

Now the Excel program is displayed on your screen
with the first worksheet.
 
First we shall see the shortcut keys in the menu.
You can go to file command in the menu and click
on all the tasksdefined there. But you will slowly
realize that using a shortcut keyis simpler and
faster for some of the simple commands in Excel.
Shortcut keys in File
To open a new file press Ctrl+N
To open an existing file press Ctrl+O
To print a file press Ctrl+P
To save a file press Ctrl+S
Shortcut keys in Edit
Copying and moving text 
Ctrl+X- This key will cut the selected text
Ctrl+C- This key will copy the selected text
Ctrl+V- This key will paste the copied text
 
Finding and replacing text
Ctrl+F- Pressing this key opens the find dialog
box.
Ctrl+H- Pressing this key opens the find and
replace dialog box
Ctrl+G- Pressing this key opens the Go to
dialog box.
By using these keys, text can be searched and
replaced. In a large document the Go to key helps
to find the exact text.

Insert command keys
Ctrl+k- This key allows you to insert a hyperlink
with the selected text or image.
Here are some keys that make the working simpler
in your work sheets.
 
To close a file Ctrl+F4 To move between worksheets Ctrl+F6
To save as F12 To select the spreadsheet Ctrl+A
To select a row Shift+Space To select a column Ctrl+Space
To exit Excel Alt+F4 To undo Ctrl+Z

ALT= Auto sum
ALT +F8 Macros
CTRL+; Insets correct date
CTRL+: Inserts correct time

To Move to the previous cell in a row                Shift + Tab

To move up one screen                                     Page Up

To go down one screen                                     Page Down

To move to the next worksheet                        Ctrl + Page Down

Move to previous worksheet                             Ctrl + Page Up

To Move to the next cell in a row                      Tab

Go to first cell in data region                             Ctrl + Home

Go to last cell in data region                             Ctrl + End

Shortcuts for charts and macros

To insert a worksheet Shift+F11

To create a chart that uses a current range F11

To display the Macro dialog box Alt+F8

To insert the auto sum formula Press  Alt+=

To select a range Press Ctrl+Shift+8

Apply the Currency format with two decimal places CTRL+SHIFT+$

Apply the Percentage format with no decimal places Ctrl_Shift+5

Select the current column Ctrl+spacebar

Select the current row Shift +Spacebar

Move to the beginning of the worksheet Ctrl+Home.
