There is a definite advantage in using keyboard
shortcuts. You don't have to use a mouse. If you
don't remember the shortcut keys, you can see
them in the menu. Every command on the menu has
a pull down list. All the tasks have a shortcut
key assigned to them.

Open the Excel program in your computer. You can
open Excel by clicking on start and selecting
programs. In programs you can select Excel.
Alternatively, if you have a shortcut icon on the
desktop, you can double click that, to open Excel.

Now the Excel program is displayed on your screen
with the first worksheet.

First we shall see the shortcut keys in the menu.

You can go to file command in the menu and click
on all the tasksdefined there. But you will slowly
realize that using a shortcut keyis simpler and
faster for some of the simple commands in Excel.

Shortcut keys in File

To open a new file press Ctrl+N

To open an existing file press Ctrl+O

To print a file press Ctrl+P

To save a file press Ctrl+S

Shortcut keys in Edit

Copying and moving text 

Ctrl+X- This key will cut the selected text

Ctrl+C- This key will copy the selected text

Ctrl+V- This key will paste the copied text

Finding and replacing text

Ctrl+F- Pressing this key opens the find dialog
box.

Ctrl+H- Pressing this key opens the find and
replace dialog box

Ctrl+G- Pressing this key opens the Go to
dialog box.

By using these keys, text can be searched and
replaced. In a large document the Go to key helps
to find the exact text.

Insert command keys

Ctrl+k- This key allows you to insert a hyperlink
with the selected text or image.
